TYPE SPECIES: Mus View in CoL tumidus Waterhouse, 1837 .

COMMENTS: Scapteromyine. Hershkovitz (1966c) removed tomentosus and fronto to Kunsia , the presumed cognate genus of Scapteromys , and Massoia (1980a) transferred labiosus to Bibimys . Karyology summarized by Gardner and Patton (1976).
