Current status: Lixus subtilis Boheman, 1835 View in CoL is a valid species.

Type. In Schoenherr’s collection at SMNH, under the name “ Subtilis , Sturm, 25–139, Bhn.” is a female in good shape pinned through the right elytron bearing the handwritten label: “ L: subtilis , St: Banat, Sturm”, and fitting description with type locality as Bannat. It is here designated as lectotype with “ Lectotypus, Ƥ, Lixus subtilis Boh., Gültekin des. 2006”.

Remarks. The species is closely related to Lixus incanescens Boheman but differs by the larger punctation on the pronotum and shape of aedeagus at apex.
