Type:— GUATEMALA. Suchitepéquez: Mazatenango, 350 m, Jun 1999, F. Archila Morales FA-sn (Holotype, BIGU!).

This entity is apparently known only from the type collection. Knowing the wide range of variation of Laelia rubescens , this entity may be nothing more than a showy variant of that species. The original diagnosis of L. perezgarciae in Latin fails to indicate other features to diagnose it from Laelia rubescens besides the rhombic petals (“ Petalis rhombici ….”), which are found in isolated individuals of L. rubescens . The schematic illustration provided by the authors features rhombic petals and midlobe.
