Lectotype (designated here):— MEXICO. Chihuahua: Hacienda San José , 25 mi S of Batopilas , August 1885, E. Palmer 60 ( GH barcode 00012508 !; isolectotype US no. 47796 /barcode 00095436 !).
Euphorbia subreniformis is another of the many species of Euphorbia described by Serrano Watson. This slender, delicate annual ranges throughout pine-oak forests from northern Mexico to Guatemala. Two Edward Palmer collections made in southwestern Chihuahua were cited in the protologue. Only Palmer 60 is present in the Gray Herbarium (GH), where Watson worked. This specimen is designated the lectotype. The Palmer 292 collection is at K (barcode 000253806!), MICH (barcode 1104875!), NDG (barcode NDG29711 photo!), NY (barcode 00263292!), and US (no. 3244184!/barcode 00512560!).
