Santa Maria material examined. Maximum height 4.0 mm, width 2.8 mm. DBUA-F 931-1 (1), Pedra-que-pica, Santa Maria Island, Azores, Touril Complex, Lower Pliocene.
Discussion. A small fragment of Epitonium sp. records its presence in the Azorean assemblages, but it is too poor for further determination.
Distribution. Lower Pliocene: Atlantic, Santa Maria Island, Azores (this paper).
Genus Janthina Röding, 1798
Type species. Helix janthina Linnaeus, 1758 (R̂ding 1798: 75), by tautonymy. Present-day, cosmopolitan.
