Bases of setae vi situated anterior to setae ps2. Setae f1 1.3–1.4 times shorter than e2. Posterior end of opisthosoma with tubercles. Setae 2a whip-like, much longer than 2b. Trochanter I without ventral projection, covered by tubercles. Measurements of holotype: body, including gnathosoma, 300 long, 175 maximum wide. Aedeagus 135 long. Type host and locality. Alticola argentatus from Kirghizia ( Bochkov 1995).

Hosts and distribution. This species is known from voles of the genus Alticola . Dusbabek & Daniel (1975) recorded R. lemnina from Alticola roylei from Nepal, however, based on measurements provided in their work these mites should be referred to R. alticolae .

It was recorded from:

Alticola argentatus from Kirghizia ( Bochkov 1995);

Alticola tuvinicus (new host) from Russia (Tuva);

Alticola strelzowi (new host) from Russia (Tuva) and Kazakhstan;

Alticola semicanus (new host) from Russia (Tuva);

Alticola roylei from Nepal ( Dusbabek & Daniel 1975).
