Tsang Wai Tak 17245 (UC) was the only gathering cited in the protologue of the name Sideroxylon hainanense Merr. (Merrill, 1930). However, the collection number on the label of the holotype specimen is 496, while its herbarium number is Lingnan University Herbarium 17245. Therefore, the collection number cited in the protologue is to be corrected.
