Tsang Wai Tak & Wong Kam Chow 14775 was the only gathering cited in the protologue of the name Ilex dasyphylla Merr. (Merrill, 1929). However, the collection number on the label of the syntype specimen in A (A 00049444) is 2914, while its herbarium number is Lingnan University Herbarium 14775. Therefore, the collection number cited in the protologue is to be corrected.
