Pseudocoutierea conchae Criales, 1981 View in CoL

Pseudocoutierea conchae View in CoL — Criales, 1981:174.

Diagnosis. Rostrum long, reaches beyond the end of antennular peduncle, dorsally and ventrally unarmed. A broad and rounded lob immediately ventral to antennal spine gives this spine a bifid appearance in lateral view. Antennular peduncle with a short and sharp stylocerite. Scaphocerite slightly overreaches the antennular peduncle and is a little more than twice as long as broad. Carapace with antennal spine. Mandible without palp. First pereopod overreaches the antennal scale sometimes with the basal part of the palm or with the articulation between propodus and carpus; the fingers are unarmed, they have terminal bristles and are as long as or shorter than the palm. Second pereopods are unequal in size and shape, the right being more robust and longr than the left. Major pereopod overreaches the antennal scale with the proximal part of carpus. Minor pereopod overreaches the scaphocerite with distal half of the palm; the fingers do not have teeth. Third to fifith pereopod with simple dactily. Abdomen with pleura of third, fourth and fifth somites end in a slender point in both sexes, adult and young. Telson with 2 pairs of dorsal spines and 3 pairs of spine on posterior margin.

Distribution. West Atlantic: Colombia (Santa Marta); Brasil (Espírito Santo) (Figura 19) ( Criales, 1981; Wirtz et al., 2009).

Material examined. None.

Ecological notes. The species is found in very turbid water on muddy-sand bottom, living on the octocorallian Leptogorgia virgulata and Lophogorgia violacea ( Criales, 1981 and Wirtz et al., 2009).
