Carinumerus yingae (Jiang, Shi, and Wang, 2020) , new combination

Onthophilus yingae Jiang et al. 2020: 2 .

Remarks. This species was recently described by Jiang et al. (2020), and placed in the extant genus Onthophilus . This species is very closely related to the one I describe above, differing mainly in the presence of additional median pronotal longitudinal carinae in C. yingae . Their carina 4 (see fig. 2A in Jiang et al. 2020) is completely lacking in C. maddisoni , and pronotal carina 3 seems to be located closer to the lateral margins in C. maddisoni . With regard to generic assignment, while the similarities to Onthophilus are strong, significant differences in several characters preclude assignment to that genus, discussed further below.
