Differential diagnosis from P. asturiana asturiana
Two variable features have been observed in specimens from nine caves in the Galician massif: several specimens show thick clothing setae on VIII urotergite and IX and X abdominal segments and in others there are 1+1 lp macrosetae on IV urotergite. These two differential characters occur together in some specimens.
Habitat and distribution
Cave-dwelling species known from many caves in the North of the Iberian Peninsula, from Galicia to the Basque country throughout the Cantabrian Mountains ( Sendra et al. 2003). Podocampa asturiana riberiensis is restricted to caves throughout the Asturian Central Basin ( Sendra et al. 2003).
