Type species. Limaytilla huarpe Casal, 1964 , by original designation.

Diagnosis. Male. Anterior margin of clypeus transverse and bidentate; mandible with a ventral tooth near the base, sometimes attached to a keel thus appearing bilobate (Figs 16, 17); median anterior process of prosternum truncate apically (Fig. 3, anterior process indicated); S2 with lateral felt line (Fig. 7, indicated); apical margin of hypopygium with a distinct median notch.

Female. Antennal tubercle with a lamellate projection on anteromedial surface; mandible smooth on anterodorsal surface, posteroventral margin with a small blunt tooth near the base; mesosoma, in dorsal view, clearly wider towards mesoscutum or pronotum and narrower posteriorly, with sinuate lateral margins; pleurae at least partly smooth and shiny, differing from dorsal sculpture; first metasomal segment sessile with the second; without felt lines on S2; plumose setae present at least in metasomal fringes; pygidium with posteromedial surface flattened, delimited by lateral carina and with surface usually sculptured.
