Diagnosis. Adult female. Palpus usually 4-segmented. Prodorsum with a rostral shield and 3 pairs of setae (v 2, sc 1 and sc 2); setae sc 2 leaflike, lanceolate. Opisthosoma with 8–10 pairs of dorsal setae; dorsosublateral setae absent; dorsocentral setae c 1, d 1 and e 1 present; dorsolateral setae 4–6 pairs (d 3, e 3, f 2, f 3, h 2 and h 1; or d 3, e 3, f 3, h 2 and h 1; or d 3, e 3, f 3 and h 1) leaflike, lanceolate, except d 3 spatulate or setiform. Venter without plates in genito-anal area (except Ultratenuipalpus quadrisetosus with developed ventral and genital plates), ovipore surrounded by wrinkled, soft wavy cuticle, similar to that in Tetranychidae , and bearing one pair of aggenital setae ag and 2 pairs of genital setae (g 1 and g 2), which are setiform and subequal. Anal area with 3 pairs of setae (ps 1, ps 2 and ps 3), setiform, except Ultratenuipalpus quadrisetosus with 2 pairs.
Adult male: Similar to female in most aspects but smaller than female. Hysterosoma divided into metapodosoma and opisthosoma by narrow band of horizontal striation; with an aedeagus and seminal vesicle; pseudanal setae ps 3 stout and conical.
