Tenotrombicula minteri Vercammen-Grandjean, 1965
Tenotrombicula minteri Vercammen-Grandjean, 1965b: 259 , figs 1–14.
Declared deposition: RMCA.
Name on slide: Tenotrombicula minteri .
Handwritten catalogue: Eltonella (Tenotrombicula) .
Inscription: TYPE.
Collection data: Smeath, N[orthern] F[rontier] D[istrict], Kenya; in a mound of Macrotermes bellicosus (Smethman) ; nursery zone mound; Jul. 1956.
Number(s): A: 756/T/1.
Remarks: Described from adult instars. According to a supposition of Vercammen-Grandjean (1965b), these mites could be postlarval stages of Microtrombicula celiae , because some individuals of the latter, which is known exclusively from larvae, were found together with T. minteri . Note, however, that a similar hypothesis concerning Blankaartia nilotica ( Trägårdh, 1905) led to an erroneous association of postlarval stages with larvae belonging to a different family ( Vercammen-Grandjean 1973).
