Distribution. China (Beijing, Gansu, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Qinghai and Xinjiang), see gazetteer ( Table 1 ) and map ( Fig. 19 ) and Mongolia (Dornogovi) ( Zunino 1973; Medvedev & Nikolajev 1974; Hillert & Král 2013; Ren et al. 2019). First province records from Hebei, Ningxia and Shaanxi ( China).

Note. The species Ceratophyus polyceros is recorded in “The fauna of the beetles from Ningxia, China ” ( Ren et al. 2019). From the material recorded in this monograph we have examined the following specimens deposited in HBUM: two specimens from Yanchi (Ningxia), one specimen from Mahuang Shan, Yanchi (Ningxia), and five specimens from Taole (Ningxia). These specimens clearly belong to the species C. sinicus . Only one specimen from Pengyang (Ningxia) has not been found, but from the zoogeographical point of view it should be C. sinicus also.
