Type species: Kellnerius jamacaruensis n. sp. by present designation.
Etymology: This genus is dedicated to the palaeontologist Alexander Wilhelm Armin Kellner in recognition of his extensive contributions to the studies of the Araripe basin, as well as Brazilian fossils. Gender masculine.
Diagnosis: Rostrum with 5 spines; scaphocerite large, longer than rostrum with slightly rounded lateral margin; third abdominal somite with distinct groove in the first one-third portion of tergite that does not extend to pleurite.
