Diagnosis. Adult ( Figs 1B View FIGURE 1 , 3B View FIGURE 3 , 11F View FIGURE 11 ). Wingspan 8.0–12.0 mm. This species is superficially very similar to T. latistriata , T. contracta and T. projecta . Since those species display intraspecific variations in the wing pattern and color, it might be difficult to separate them based solely on such external characteristics. However, T. pancratiastis usually have the forewing marked with three white streaks in basal 1/3 between costa and fold whereas there are only one or two streaks in other three species. Another good diagnostic character separating those species is to compare the scape of antennae: T. pancratiastis has alternating black and white streaks dorsally whereas the scape is creamy white except the posterior margin fuscous or black in other three species. The coloration of female labial palpi is also slightly different in those species: the outer surface of segment II is fuscous to black in basal half in T. pancratiastis , but it is fuscous in basal 2/3 or 3/ 4 in other species. The male sternum VIII ( Fig. 25D View FIGURE 25 ) of T. pancratiastis is distinctive as it is pentagon-shaped whereas those of related species are subtriangular. The male genitalia ( Fig. 36B View FIGURE 36 ) can easily be distinguished from its allies by the larger anellus lobe with a robust apical bristle and the aedeagus with a well-developed coiled lamina. The female genitalia ( Fig. 52F View FIGURE 52 ) can be differentiated from T. latistriata and T. contracta by the smooth segment VIII without minute spines and the large cup-shaped antrum.

Variations. The specimens from Yunnan tend to be darker than those from other regions. The species shows minor variations in forewing color and patterns, especially in the length and width of streaks.

Biology. The larva is a leaf feeder ( Moriuti 1982) or a seed predator ( Fujita et al. 2009) on the host plant. In Japan, the adult occurs twice a year and overwinters as a larva ( Moriuti 1982).

Host plant. Myricaceae : Myrica rubra (Lour.) Siebold & Zucc. ( Moriuti 1982; Fujita et al. 2009; Sakamaki 2013).

Distribution. China (Chongqing, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hubei, Jiangxi, Taiwan, Yunnan, Zhejiang), Cambodia (new record), Japan, Korea, India.
