Carchesiopygus assamensis (Beeson) View in CoL
(Figs 3–4)
Crossotarsus assamensis Beeson, 1937: 59 View in CoL .
Carchesiopygus assamensis (Beeson) View in CoL : Browne, 1962: 647.
Taxonomy. Both sexes were described by Beeson (1937). The types are inaccessible (IFRI), and the species has been recognised on the basis of the description, and a female collected and identified by Beeson in NHML. We have also examined specimens from China, India, Laos and Thailand in NHMB, NKME and RAB. Schedl (1969) notes that the types are labelled Carchesiopygus wollastoni assamicus . This species is closely related to C. wollastoni View in CoL , and the males are separable only on minor characters of pronotal and elytral sculpture (see key to males). However, the females are easily separable by the size and number of mycangial pores on the pronotum (see key to females).
Distribution. China (Yunnan), India (Assam), Laos, Thailand.
New records. CHINA, S. Yunnan, (Xishuangbanna), 23 km NW Jinghong, vic. Na Ban (NNNR), 22o9.49'N, 100o39.92'E, 730m, secondary forest, EKL, 30.x.2008 (L. Biology. The only recorded host is Vatica lanceaefolia (Dipterocarpaceae) ( Beeson 1937, Beaver & Liu 2013).
