General distribution: Europe, N Africa, Caucasus, Asia Minor, Near East, W Siberia, Kazakhstan, Central Asia ( Uzbekistan, Tajikistan), Russian Far East; introduced also to Japan, Mongolia, China (Sichuan), Korean Peninsula, India (Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh), N and C America.
