Syn. nov.
Fruhstorfer (1910: 236) described Euploea orontobates from a single male specimen. This holotype, together with its labels, is shown in Fig. 1 (specimen register number BMNH (E) # 149811). Visible damage suggests that the right forewing androconial brand was excised at some point, presumably for microscopic examination (perhaps by Reverdin, Fruhstorfer’s preparator, or later by Talbot or Corbet). However, a search of the BMNH collections database failed to find any record of an associated slide or other preparation. The forewing length of the holotype is 47.5 mm; the length of the left forewing androconial brand is ca 4.3 mm .
