“ Dromia View in CoL ” wilsoni ( Fulton & Grant, 1902)
Cryptodromia wilsoni Fulton & Grant, 1902: 61 View in CoL , pl. 9.
Dromia wilsoni View in CoL . — McLay 1993: 156, fig. 16 e.— Ng et al. 2000: 159, fig. 2b.— Ng et al. 2001: 5.
Material. 1 female, 42.0 x 29.5 mm, Balicasag Island , Panglao, Bohol, Visayas, Philippines, in tangle nets, 200–300 m, coll. local shell fishermen, 2 Mar 2004, ZRC .
Remarks. The generic position of this species is less than certain. McLay (1993) referred it to Dromia with some doubt, but deferred from moving it to another genus. McLay et al. (2001) reviewed the larval literature for dromiids and suggested that the larval features of this species are so different from Dromia s. str. that it should not be retained in the genus. The move to a new genus is currently being undertaken by D. Guinot (pers. comm.).
Distribution. This species is the most widespread dromiid, occurring in the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Oceans. D. wilsoni was previously reported from Manila by McLay (1993).
