Distribution: ANG, CAM, DOC, EQG, GAB, GAM, GBI, KEN, MOZ, NAB, RCI, RSA, SEN, SLN, TAN, TOG, ZIM.

Distribution in Guinea-Bissau (Administrative Regions): 2) CAC.

Historic records: none.

Material examined: Varela (12º 17´35.44´´ N, 16º 34´44.91´´ W, 22m alt.) (CAC), 25.VI.1992, 1 ♂, LT, P. Mendoça leg., PMC (Nº 12143) GoogleMaps , in MUHNAC (Nº 23297); Cacheu (IBAP Headquarters), 28.VI.2009, 1 ♂, LT, A. Serrano leg., ASC .

Remarks. It is the type species of a group with its own name ( C. ventricosus group sensu Schein 1954a). The species has a wide distribution throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. The adult specimens were collected by LT ( Fig. 2c View FIGURE 2 ). Joly (2018) provided biodiversity information (abundance, habitat preference) on this species for GHA. Other biological and ecological data are not available for the species, but see also general comments in Schein (1954a) and the remarks under the genus Coenochilus ( Serrano et al. 2020) . Despite its large distribution in Africa, it is a new species record for Guinea-Bissau.
