Taxonomy. Original description: Racoma labiatus McClelland, 1842: 578 , pl. 15, fig. 1 [Pushut, Koonar (Kunar) River near Jullalabad (Jallabad), Afghanistan; no types known].— Afghanistan synonyms: Racoma chrysochlora McClelland, 1842 ; Schizothorax chrysochlora ( McClelland, 1842) ; Schizothoraichthys labiatus ( McClelland, 1842) ; Racoma labiata McClelland, 1842 ; Schizothorax ladacensis Zugmayer, 1909 ; Schizothorax ritchieana McClelland & Griffith, 1842 ; Schizothorax tibetanus Zugmayer, 1909 .—Revisions: None.—Illustration: McClelland (1842: pl. 15, fig. 1) as Racoma labiatus .

Distribution and habitat. Distribution in Afghanistan: Konar, Kabul and Rivers.—General distribution: Nepal, Tibet, Kashmir and Afghanistan.—Habitat: This species inhabits rivers and streams. Freshwater.

Economic importance. Commercially important.

Conservation. Conservation status in Afghanistan: Unknown.—IUCN: NE (2023).—Threats: HAB, EUT, ABS. Low sensitivity to human activities.—Not considered as a keystone species.—Decline status: Unknown.—Low priority for conservation action.
