Remarks. Silurus afghana is a synonym of Pterocryptis gangelica listed by Coad (1981) in Afghanistan. However, Silurus afghana is not identified as being from Afghanistan. It is from Assam, India. Afghanistan is not included in the natural distribution range of the species. The presence of the species needs clarification.
