Labeo curchius ( Hamilton, 1822) View in CoL
Remarks. This species was reported from the Kabul River by McClelland (1842) as Cyprinus curchius and synonymized with Labeo gonius Coad (1981: 11) . However, currently, Labeo curchius is a valid species. It is distributed in River Ganges, waters of Bengal, India. Therefore, Afghanistan is not included in the natural distribution range of the species.According to Coad (2014), McClelland (1842) probably erroneously identified this species as Labeo gonius . This issue should be clarified.
