Status in Afghanistan. First record from Afghanistan by Berg (1949: 1036); confirmed by Coad (1981: 16; 2014: 331).—Afghanistan materials: None.
Distribution and habitat. Distribution in Afghanistan:Amu Darya basin.—General distribution: Europe. Introduced elsewhere.—Habitat: This species is found in a very wide range of habitats, from estuarine lagoons and lakes of all types to medium-sized streams. Freshwater, brackish.
