Triplocania ecuatoriana View in CoL n. sp. (Male).
( Figs 30–36 View FIGURES 30 – 36 )
Diagnosis. Belonging in the same species assemblage indicated above; differing from these species in having the median process of the central sclerite of the hypandrium deeply cleft distally, resulting in two blunt ended lobes, directed latero-caudally, each lobe distally bearing a row of six setae on inner border. It also differs from the above species in having the setae of the forewing veins arising from brown areolae.
Color. Compound eyes black, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents; head pattern ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 30 – 36 ). Scape pale yellow and pedicel yellow, f1–f2 pale yellow, with apex white. Mx4 pale yellow with distal end pale brown. Femora pale yellow; tibiae pale yellow with distal ends yellow; tarsomeres 1–3 pale yellow. Forewing with setae of veins arising from dark brown areolae, brown spots on veins distally, from R2+3 to CuA2; a whitish area almost triangular in the connection between CuA and areola postica, a brown spot between Rs and branching of M and between apex of areola postica and M; a brown area along CuA to posterior end of CuP; a dark brown spot at confluence of CuP–1A; a brown irregular area on proximal end of wing; pterostigma brown, with a large, hyaline area clear in the middle; veins brown, with dark brown spots at wing margin ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 30 – 36 ). Hindwing almost hyaline, with a small, pale brown area proximally and a small pale brown spot at confluence of CuP and wing margin; veins brown, with dark brown spots at wing margin ( Fig. 32 View FIGURES 30 – 36 ).
Morphology. Compound eyes without interommatidial setae. Outer cusp of lacinial tip broad, with five denticles ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 30 – 36 ). Forewing pterostigma almost triangular, narrow basally; Rs sinuous, R2+3 slightly convex, R4+5 straight, M sinuous, M1 slightly convex, M2 almost straight, M3 straight; areola postica tall, with round apex, 2A not reaching the wing margin. Hindwing Rs almost straight, R2+3 straight, R4+5 almost straight, M sinuous. Hypandrium of three sclerites, a large central sclerite, anteriorly convex, with the anterior region transversely wide, with anterolateral corners projected; posterior process slender, widening distally; flanked by large, almost triangular sclerites; setae as illustrated ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 30 – 36 ). Phallosome ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 30 – 36 ) with side struts independent, V shaped, with a strong narrowing in its connection to external parameres, these stout, basally wide, narrowing to end, directed inward; with a field of pores posteriorly; three pairs of endophallic sclerites, anterior pair Y shaped, basal part with numerous small protuberances ending in a long, slender, incurved, acuminate extension, part of the inner arms, long, wide based, narrowing posteriorly and distally acuminate, bearing a subterminal tooth on outer margin; outer arm of anterior sclerite wider in the middle, narrowing distally, acuminate apically; mesal pair small, elbowed in the middle, basally almost rounded, almost touching in the middle on membranous area, each with bidentate ending; posterior pair curved inward, narrow anteriorly, wider in the middle, narrowing posteriorly, ending in three dactyloid processes. Epiproct wide basally, with sides converging to straight posterior border, three setae in mesal position, other setae as illustrated ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 30 – 36 ). Paraprocts broad, wide basally, narrowing posteriorly, distally rounded; sensory fields with 32 trichobothria on basal rosettes, setae as illustrated ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 30 – 36 ).
