Zosterodasys henarensis Fernandez-Leborans & Alekperov, 1996 (imprint 1995)

( Figs 9 View FIGURE 9 E–G)

Zosterodasys derouxi Sola et al., 1990: 19 , figs 10–19 (junior primary homonym of Z. derouxi Aliev, 1990 ). Zosterodasys henarensis Fernandez-Leborans & Alekperov, 1996: 10 , fig. 11 (a new replacement name for Z. derouxi Sola et al., 1990 ); Jankowski 2007: 729.

Diagnosis. Size about 165–265 × 40–70 µm after osmium tetroxide fixation. Body shape very narrowly elliptical with constriction in anterior body quarter in vivo, providing cell with a Nassulopsis -like appearance. Macronucleus narrowly ellipsoidal with a single globular micronucleus. On average 75 (70–80) ciliary rows. Synhymenium completely encircles cell. About 17–20 nematodesmal rods. Freshwater.

Type locality. Henares River, Guadalajara, Spain.

Type material. Deposition of type material not mentioned either by Sola et al. (1990) or Fernandez-Leborans & Alekperov (1996).

Etymology. Not given in the original paper. The Latin adjective henarens · is, - is, - e [m, f, n] obviously refers to type locality, the Henares River, in which the species was discovered.

Remarks. Fernandez-Leborans & Alekperov (1996) replaced Z. derouxi Sola et al., 1990 by a new substitute name, Z. henarensis , because Z. derouxi Sola et al., 1990 is a junior primary homonym of Z. derouxi Aliev, 1990 and has no synonyms [Articles 60.1 and 60.3 of the ICZN (1999)]. Zosterodasys henarensis can be neotypified because no type material is available and several details of live morphology (body size, contractile vacuole pattern, cortical granulation) have been not described. The generic home of this species is doubtful because of the Nassulopsis -like body shape.
