The species is very similar to Omophron limbatum . Although the puncturation on the pronotum of O. aequale is a little finer, it is denser than that of O. limbatum . Besides the alreadymentioned features this species has denser and coarser puncturation on the side margins of the sternites 1 and 2. There are some differences also in the pattern of the surface, but it can be varied for both species. The species can be defined for certain only taking into account the form of the top of aedeagus.
Nowadays Omophron aequale is divided into 2 subspecies - O. aequale aequale and O. aequale jacobsoni. A more detailed description of the subspecies is presented below.
