Type: KENYA. Kilifi Distr.: Kaloleni, on the road from Mariakani to Kilifi, approx. 25 miles NW of Mombasa, October 1958, Punter ref. X58-3591, cultivated at R. B. G. Edinburgh , C3065 (holotype E!). Homotypic synonym: Saintpaulia ionantha subsp. rupicola (B.L.Burtt) I.Darbysh .
