The Protohermes costalis View in CoL group
Diagnosis. Wings pale smoky brown to blackish brown, with various patterns of yellowish or whitish markings. Median ocellus apparently transverse; lateral ocelli widely apart, distance between them mostly equal to that between antennal fossae. Male gonostylus 9 always enveloped by tergum 9 and invisible in dorsal view; ectoproct short and subcylindrical, ventrally usually produced into a tubercle which bears a small tuft, and with tip usually slightly depressed and densely setose; fused gonocoxites 10 arched, dorsomedial process usually present, posterior margin usually incised medially. Female fused gonocoxites 8 subtrapezoidal and convex posteriad; tergum 9 laterally with a pair of sac-like lobes.
