DIAGNOSIS. — Russula xerampelinoides is mainly separated from similarly looking species of Xerampelinae by its sequence data (nrITS), its geographical distribution and the association with Abies densa in subalpine forest.

HOLOTYPE. — India. Sikkim, North district, Yumthang valley , 27°21.108’N, 88°49.660’E, alt. 3644 m a.s.l., under Abies densa
