Pumiliofossorum moche Silvestro & Flores sp. nov.
( Figs 1–15 View FIGURES 1 – 3 View FIGURES 4 – 7 View FIGURES 8 – 15 )
Diagnosis. Body with scarce, long and golden pilosity on ventrites, pseudopleuron, humeri and elytral outer margins, more noticeable on proepisternum, legs, and hypomera ( Figs. 1, 3 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ). Pronotum with round punctures, distinct but not sunken, separated by a distance 1–2 puncture diameter, surface between punctures flat, not forming wrinkles ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ). Elytral longitudinal grooves slightly marked, with punctures inside separated by 2 puncture diameters, grooves not interrupted by wrinkles. Protibiae outer margin smooth, proximal half oblique to inner margin, distal half parallel to inner margin ( Figs. 8, 9 View FIGURES 8 – 15 ). Tarsi one half as long as tibiae.
Description. Length 4.5–5.5 mm, width 3.0 mm. Body reddish brown to dark brown, shiny; antennae and legs reddish brown; with scarce, long, golden setae in sterna, pseudopleuron, humeri and elytral outer margins, longer and visible in proepisternum, legs and hypomera ( Figs. 1, 3 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ). Head. Clypeus densely punctate, strongly marked, punctures twice the size of labral punctures, separated by a distance one puncture diameter. Frons densely punctate, punctures slightly larger than clypeal punctures, sunken, separated by less than puncture diameter ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4 – 7 ). Antennae reaching first anterior quarter of pronotum. Thorax. Pronotum anterior angles not prominent, posterior margin slightly concave. Pronotal surface with round punctures same size than frons punctures, denser at sides than on disc and poorly-marked foveae ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ); punctures strong, not sunken, separated by 1–2 puncture diameters; surface between punctures flat, not forming wrinkles ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ). Hipomera, prosternum, mesosternum and metasternum with scarce, long golden setae. Elytra wrinkled; regularly and densely covered with small conical tubercles associated to anterior margin of punctures, separated by 2 puncture diameters; lacking long, golden setae on anterior area ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ). Pseudopleuron with sparse long golden setae. Legs. Protibiae outer margin smooth, proximal half oblique to inner margin and distal half parallel to inner margin ( Figs. 8, 9 View FIGURES 8 – 15 ), distal margin straight, with spines-like setae in distal margin and distal part of the inner margin, ventral face rugose, dorsal face setose ( Figs. 8, 9 View FIGURES 8 – 15 ). Meso– and metatibiae outer margin serrate, with spines-like setae and dorsal face with setae and spines-like setae ( Figs. 10–13 View FIGURES 8 – 15 ). Tarsal length a half than tibial length.

Etymology. Named “ moche ” after the pre-Columbian Moche culture that built the “Huaca de la Luna”, the Pyramid of the Moon.
Distribution and habitat. The specimens were collected by the entomologist Jean-Bernard Huchet (MNHN) while he was performing archaeo-entomological investigations on the archaeological site of "Huaca de la Luna" near Trujillo, in La Libertad department. Know only from the type locality, Huaca de la Luna, located in Northwestern Peru, 5 km south of Trujillo city; in Peru, La Libertad, Trujillo, Moche , which are country, department, province and district respectively.
