Etymology. The specific name is a tribute to the Colombian arachnologist Jimmy Cabra, who assisted in collecting the specimens for this work.

Diagnosis. Males of Syspira jimmyi are easily distinguished from other Dominican species by the dagger shape of the retrolateral tibial apophysis and by the enlarged distal area of the median apophysis ( Figs 3A −B View FIGURE 3 , 4B −D View FIGURE 4 ). Females resemble those of Syspira cimitarra by the enlarged atrium, but can be distinguished by the straighter epigynal plate, with strongly projected anterior margins of posterior plates and shorter copulatory ducts ( Fig. 3C −D View FIGURE 3 , compared with 1C −D, 2I).

Description. Male (Holotype). Coloration: carapace orange with two dark grey paramedian bands, from anterior border to posterior border of carapace. Chelicerae orange. Labium, endites, sternum and legs yellowish. Abdomen gray with three longitudinal dorsal anterior bands, and four rows of white spots on posterior ventral third. Spinnerets white. Total length 9.5, carapace length 4.5, width 3.6. Eye diameters: AME 0.17, ALE 0.22, PME 0.25, PLE 0.22. Chelicerae 1.7 long, with 3 promarginal and 2 retromarginal teeth ( Fig. 4A View FIGURE 4 ).
