Material examined. Holotype ♁, Hainan: Tongguling (19.60°N, 110.75°E), Wenchang , 50 m, 20.VII.2008, leg. BB Hu et al., slide No. LWC08409 GoogleMaps . Paratype: 1♀, same data as holotype except dated 18.VII.2008 (abdomen missing) GoogleMaps .
Diagnosis. Adult ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–8 ) wingspan 15.0–16.0 mm. Calamotropha aequilata is characterized by the brown forewing with a black medial speckle near the anterior corner of the cell; in the male genitalia by the aequilate valva with apex concave at posterior 1/3, the straight phallus about 1.5 X as long as the valva, and the vesica with a cluster of differently sized spine-like cornuti ( Li & Li 2012: Fig. 2C View FIGURES 1–8 ).
