Taxonomy. Original description: Alburnus sellal Heckel, 1843a: 1082 [92] [Kueik (Qweik River), Aleppo, Syria; syntypes: NMW 55664-67 View Materials (1, 2, 4, 2); RMNH 2666 About RMNH (2)] .

Distribution in Iran. —Distribution in River Basin: Esfahan, Tigris, Kor River, Lake Maharlu, Persis, Hormuz.—Distribution in Ecoregions: 441-Lower Tigris & Euphrates, 442-Upper Tigris & Euphrates, 449- Esfahan, 451-Northern Hormuz Drainages.

Status in Iran. [Native].—Shah kuli-e jonubi.—Listed in previous checklists from Iran by Esmaeili et al. (2018); Jouladeh-Roudbar et al. (2020) and Eagderi et al. (2022).—Iran material: ZM-CBSU.
