Taxonomy. Original description: Salmo mykiss Walbaum, 1792: 59 [Kamchatka, Russia; no types known] .

Revisions. Berg (1948: 267) as Salmo mykiss ; Stearley & Smith (1993: 21) as Oncorhynchus mykiss mykiss .

Illustrations. Berg (1948: 268, fig. 155) as Salmo mykiss .

Distribution in Iran. —Distribution in River Basin: Caspian Sea, Lake Orumiyeh, Tigris, Kor River, Esfahan, Dasht-e Kavir, Namak Lake and widely farmed.—Distribution in Ecoregions: 434-Kura-South Caspian Drainages, 441-Lower Tigris & Euphrates, 442-Upper Tigris & Euphrates, 445-Orumiyeh, 446-Caspian Highlands, 450-Turan Plain, 447-Namak, 448-Kavir & Lut Deserts, 449- Esfahan.

Status in Iran. [Exotic].—Ghezel ala-e rangin kaman.—Listed in previous checklists from Iran by Esmaeili et al. (2017 a, 2018); Jouladeh-Roudbar et al. (2020) and Eagderi et al. (2022).—Iran material: ZM-CBSU.

Conservation. Not relevant (introduced species).
