This species is characterized by median lobe on lower lip very short, with truncate posterior margin, not reach- ing beyond line passing between corners of mouth in adults, shorter in juveniles; absence of dark longitudinal stripe in adults; and anal fin tip pointed ( Kottelat 2001). They can be found in medium-sized to large rivers ( Taki 1978).
