Type material: Holotype ♀: French Congo [ Gabun ], Valley of the Ogowé River , coll. W.J. Holland ( CMNH).

According to the description by Beutenmüller (1899) this species is, with an alar expanse of 20 mm, much smaller than all known species of Tipulamima and has broad yellow bands on second and third abdominal segments, which are not present in Tipulamima .
