Type species. Pilumnus labyrinthicus Miers, 1884 View in CoL , by original designation.

Remarks. Vellumnus currently has six species: V. labyrinthicus ( Miers, 1884) ; V. minabensis (Sakai T, 1969) ; V. penicillatus ( Gordon, 1930) , V. pictus Fahimi & Naderloo, 2023 ; V. pygmaeus ( Takeda, 1977) ; and V. tki Ng & Clark 2023 . One species, Pilumnus vermiculatus A. Milne-Edwards, 1873 , originally referred to the genus by Ng (2010) (see also Ng et al. 2008) has recently been transferred to Lophoplax Stimpson, 1858 ( Ng & Rahayu 2023).
