= Amaranthus deflexus Linnaeus (1771: 295) .

Type (lectotype designated by Aellen 1972: 7):—UNKNOWN ORIGIN. Herb. Linn. No. 1117.18 (LINN [digital image!], image of the lectotype is available at http://linnean-online.org/11644/).

Nomenclatural notes:—The var. minor was proposed to highlight forms of Euxolus deflexus (≡ Am. deflexus ) reduced in size (“ nana... ”). Unfortunately any specimen was cited in the protologue. Fortunately the only exsiccatum (original material) traced (P 04021933) included the date of collection (1825, collector: Rigodit), it matches with the Moquin-Tandon’s diagnosis, and it is designated as the lectotype of the name Euxolus deflexus var. minor .

Taxonomical notes:—As discussed above under Euxolus deflexus var. major , the presumed diagnostic characters given for the var. minor cannot be accepted to recognize separate taxa and this variety is to be synonymized with Am. deflexus .
