Male. Head: face 1/3 as long as eye width, yellow, shiny except sparsely white pollinose and pilose laterally; gena brown; frontal triangle yellow, white pilose; vertical triangle black, white and bronze pollinose, black pilose; occiput black, silver pollinose, with thick white pile, with a short row of brownish pile superiorly; antenna yellow to brownish, black pilose, arista brown.

Thorax: postpronotum yellow; proepisternum black, white pollinose; proepimeron black; scutum black except broadly yellow laterally, bronze pollinose except for two lateral and one medial bluish-white pollinose vitta, yellow pilose; scutellum brown with yellow margins, usually black pilose, sometimes yellow and black pilose; anterior anepisternum black, long yellow pilose; posterior anepisternum black on anterior 1/2, yellow pilose dorsally, posterior ½ yellow, yellow pilose; katepisternum black except dorsal 1/3 yellow, dull, yellow pilose; anepimeron black; plumula yellow, calypter yellowish with brown fringe; posterior mesothoracic pleuron (katepimeron, meron, katatergum, anatergum and postscutellum) black, anatergum brownish posterodorsally; methatoracic pleuron yellow; metasternum brown; halter yellow. Legs: pro- and mesocoxae brown on basal 2/3, yellow apically, yellow pilose; metacoxa yellow, yellow pilose; trochanters yellow, yellow pilose; profemur yellow, yellow pilose; mesofemur yellow with brown macula apical posterodorsally, yellow pilose; metafemur yellow except for black annulus on apical 1/3, yellow and black pilose; pro- and mesotibiae yellow, yellow pilose; metatibia brown, yellow on basal and apical extremities, black pilose; pro- and mesotarsi yellow, yellow pilose; metatarsus dorsally brown, ventrally yellow, black pilose. Wing: hyaline to brownish, extensively microtrichose, bare only: on basal 1/2 or less of cell C, basal 1/5 of cell R1, basal 2/3 or less of cell R and basal 3/4 or less of cell BM; alula as broad as cell C, not microtrichose.

Abdomen: terga yellow and black pilose; 1 st tergum black except yellow anteriorly and laterally; 2 nd tergum black with medial yellow fascia interrupt medially or with medial yellow facia extended medioposteriorly; 3 rd to 4 th terga black with sub-lateral arcuate yellow vitta continuous from anterior and lateral margin, sometimes not ending on lateral margin and with medial vitta extending from anterior to posterior margin; 5 th tergum black with medial yellow vittae or yellow with sub-lateral black vittae and medial black vita ( Fig. 37). Male genitalia: surstylus very convex laterally and concave medially, with scattered short setae; postanal process almost 3/4 as long as surstylus; aedeagus enlarged, proeminent dorsally; superior lobe somewhat quadrangular with a slightly dorsal extension, with hairs anteroventrally, with small lobe medially with hairs.

Female. Unknown.

Length. Body 7.0–8.0 mm, wing 6.5–7.0 mm.

Type material examined. Holotype. PANAMA. Corozal : Mesogramma purus , male, 19/I/1929, C. H. Curran ( AMNH).
