Ecology: Collected from clay bottoms.

Extralimital distribution: Brazil, São Paulo, 23°25’– 24°22’S 44°33’– 45°16’W (bottom: mudy sand) (YW et al. 91), 17–50 m (VB et al. 00).

Extralimital depth range: 17– 50 m.

Type material location: NRS, Stockholm.

Remarks: Pseudharpinia antarctica , P. c a l c a r i a r i a, P. cariniceps , P. dentata , P. macrospinosa , P. o b t u s i - frons and P. vallini can be separated from each other by the combination of some morphological character states such as: presence or absence of projection-like-tooth on the posterior margin of peraeopod 7, different size of serrations on ventral margin of basis of peraeopod 7, number and length of setae among these serrations, the length of uropod 3 and the length and setation on article 2 of outer ramus of uropod 3.

Pseudharpinia dentata is extensively recorded from the Magellan area (Rauschert, unpubl.).
