Type species: Mantis pagana Fabricius, 1775: 278
Diagnostic characters. Short, stout setae present on the occiput, pronotum and mesothorax. Longitudinal line (pigmentation) on the dorsum or inner lateral side of forecoxae absent. Attenuated or absent crossvein between A1 and CuP in hind wing. Gonocoxites thin and parallel, without well-developed inward directed flange on the distal apex.
