Protologue citation:—“EASTERN HIMALAYA : Niapokri and Bijan, 11–12,000 feet, (Dr. King’s collectors!)”.
Type:— INDIA. Sikkim (now in West Bengal): Bijan , Aug. 1888, King’s collector s.n. (lectotype CAL0000018954 !, designated here) ; isolectotypes CAL0000018948!
Syntypes:— INDIA. Sikkim: Niapokri, 12,000 ft., Aug. 1888, King’s collector s.n. (BM000885901!, CAL0000018955!, CAL0000018956!, DD!, E00273611!, K000739134!, P04332869!).
Notes:— Prain (1889) described Pedicularis instar var. paradoxa based on the specimens of King’s collectors from Bijan and Niapokri. Two specimens of King’s collector from Bijan ( CAL 0000018948 and CAL 0000018954) and seven specimens from Niapokri (BM000885901, CAL 0000018955, CAL0000018956, DD, E00273611, K000739134 and P04332869) were traced. Of these, the best one CAL0000018954, is designated here as the lectotype.
