Comments. Leioproctus is the largest genus of Paracolletinae and has never been revised in a comprehensive manner. Michener (1965: 48–52) recognized groups of species within Leioproctus (as here defined—his subgenus Leioproctus s.str.), which facilitate species-level identification. Two additional groups were recently recognized: the Leioproctus conospermi and L. capito species-groups are associated with flowers of Conospermum and Eremophila , respectively, and were revised by Houston (1989, 1990). All the species known from New Zealand were reviewed by Donovan (2007). Extensive revisionary work is needed for the clarification of species identities within Leioproctus and for the delimitation of smaller, monophyletic groups which will be afforded either generic or subgeneric or status.
