087 ** Catachela machaerii Keifer, 1969b: 15 .

Type host: Machaerium villosum Vogel (Leguminosae) , presently referred as belonging to Fabaceae (Tropicos 2020) .

Type locality: Piracicaba , São Paulo, Brazil .

Additional host plant in Brazil. On Lonchocarpus sp. (Leguminosae) , presently referred as belonging to Fabaceae ( Flora do Brasil 2020): Piracicaba (22°42’30”S, 47°38’00”W) ( Flechtmann 2004b), São Paulo.

Relationship to host plants. vagrants on the under surface of the leaves ( Keifer 1969b; Flechtmann 2004b).

Remarks. Type species of the genus Catachela . Only known from the type locality. Keifer (1969b) informed that the type host plant of this species, M. villosum , was a climbing vine, however, actually it is a tree. Very similar mites were collected by Flechtmann (2004b) on a tree of the genus Lonchocarpus in the type locality. Machaerium and Lonchocarpus are close genera and some species could be taken one for another (personal communication Ricardo Ribeiro Rodrigues and Vinicius Castro Souza, botanists, ESALQ-USP). Since then it is possible that the real type host plant of C. machaerii could be Lonchocarpus sp. instead of M. villosum . Flechtmann (2004b) redescribed the species based on Lonchocarpus specimens from the type locality (Piracicaba, Brazil, 22°42’30”S, 47°38’00”W) and pointed out some differences to the original description regarding the length of several setae.

Type host plant status. Natives trees, not endemics, occurring in Caatinga , Cerrado and Mata Atlântica biomes ( Flora do Brasil 2020) .

Additional host plant status. Lonchocarpus sp. —native tree, not endemic, occurring in Amazônia, Caatinga, Cerradoand Mata Atlântica biomes ( Flora do Brasil 2020).
