Diagnosis. Clypeus basally strongly convex, apically deeply concave; ovipositor 0.73 times as long as hind tibia, with slanting ridges at the tip of both lower and upper valves.

Description (Holotype). Body length 11.70 mm, fore wing 10.40 mm, ovipositor sheath 1.30 mm. Head. First antennal flagellomere 1.39 times length of second; diameter of lateral ocellus 0.75 times ocellar-ocular space; frons smooth, slightly convex in front of median ocellus; face 0.86 times as high as wide, slightly convex medially, with shallow and moderate-sized punctures, numerous long hairs; clypeus basally strongly convex, apically strongly concave; malar space about 0.22 times basal width of mandible.

Mesosoma . Epomia present, length about 0.50 times basal width of mandible; mesoscutum with dense, minute hairs, notauli shallowly present on anterior 0.23 of mesoscutum, ending before line connecting front edges of tegulae; scutellum strongly convex, apically smooth, without striations, lateral carinae present on basal half; mesopleurum with moderately small-size punctures, epicnemial carina present on lower half of mesopleurum, postpectal carina extending only to outer half of mid coxa; submetapleural carina higher next to mid coxa, anterior lobe prominent, smooth, lacking ridges; lower part of metapleurum with some small ridges along submetapleural carina; propodeum with areola slightly widened posteriorly, wider than long, apical transverse carina appearing only as two stubs attached to median longitudinal carinae, pleural part weakly present, dividing pleural area into two sub-areas; costula absent; petiole smooth, with some transverse wrinkles; propodeal spiracle elongate, 3.75 times as long as wide. Legs. Hind femur 2.94 times as long as wide, length 0.80 times hind tibia, hind basitarsus 0.30 times hind tarsus, second hind tarsomere 0.58 times basitarsus. Wings. Fore wing vein 2 rs-m 0.63 times length of 3 rs -m; cu-a distad of Rs+M; hind wing with first abscissa of vein Cu 1 about 0.38 time length of vein cu-a.

Metasoma. First tergite 1.50 times as long as apically wide; lateral carina on first tergite extending over spiracle; ovipositor straight, 0.73 times length of hind tibia, 1.43 times longer than first tergite, lower valves with seven and upper valve with five slanting ridges at tip.

Colour. Ground colour light yellow; antenna brown, scape and pedicel yellow on lower side; ocellar area blackish; hind slope of vertex dark brown; frons light brown to reddish brown; mesoscutum with three ferruginous stripes meeting posteriorly at base of scutellum, central stripe black medially, base of scutellum black, lateral carina of mesoscutum blackish on anterior half; tegula brown and transparent posteriorly; scutellum with large, central, black spot; mesopleurum with black stripe on upper margin, black stripe along posterior margin of mesopleurum not extending to mesopleural fovea; propodeum with black spots on first lateral areas and areola, area surrounding propodeal spiracle black; upper side of fore femur light brown; upper and lower side of mid femur black; upper side of mid tibia and mid tarsus dark brown; hind coxa with outer surface almost black, inner surface with dark brown spot near apex; trochantellus dark brown; anterior side of hind femur surrounded by black stripe, on ventral side interrupted near apex; hind tibia with lower side yellow, upper side dark brown; hind tarsus blackish; wings brownish yellow, pterostigma and veins brown; each abdominal tergite with blackish brown area extending over basal 0.80, and tergites centrally blackish, except first tergite blackish brown only apically; second to fifth sternites, each with two blackish spots; ovipositor light brown; ovipositor sheath blackish.

Morphological variation. The face of the paratype is slightly wider than the holotype. The stripes on mesoscutum vary from brown to dark brown. The black stripe at the upper margin of the mesopleurum extends to the anterior margin, at the upper level of the fore coxa. The areola has parallel sides. The leg colour of the paratype is lighter than in the holotype.

Distribution. This new species is currently known only from Chu Yang Sin National Park, Dak Lak province southern Central Vietnam ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 )

Ecological note. The specimens were collected in the secondary rainforest at elevation between 500−900 m a.s.l.

Comments. This new species can be distinguished from three other species which have ridges on both lower and upper valves by the shape of the clypeus. In addition, this species differs from A. inserta by having an open areola and a longer ovipositor and from A. vries by having a broader first tergite and a shorter ovipositor ( Table 1 View TABLE 1 ).

Feature A. orientalis A. compressa A. inserta A. achterbergi A. vriesi Etymology. We name the new species in honor of Prof. Dr. Ing. C. van Achterberg, Senior Researcher and Curator of Hymenoptera , Department of Terrestrial Zoology, the National Museum of Natural History, Leiden, Netherlands, who collected the type specimens and for his great contribution to the entomological research in Vietnam.

Material examined. Holotype: Ψ, Dak Lak, Chu Yang Sin NP, Krong K’Mar, 740–900 m a.s.l, 02– 10.VI.2007, Malaise trap, leg. C. v. Achterberg & R. de Vries . Paratype: 1Ψ, Dak Lak, Chu Yang Sin NP, near the dam, 500 m a.s.l, 03–09.VI.2007, Malaise trap, leg. C. v. Achterberg & R. de Vries .
