Type locality. Russia, Eastern Siberia , Chita City.
Syntypes. ZIN.
Type host. Mus musculus (L., 1758).
Host range. Similarly to Hg. pontiger , this species is a predatory mite with a tendency towards hematophagy ( Goncharova et al., 1991). It may live in vegetable stores, cellars and other similar locations inhabited by synanthropic rodents. The occurrence of Hg. timofejevi on wild rodents is also known ( Goncharova et al., 1991).
Distribution. Siberia (Western and Eastern), Transbaikalia, northern China ( Goncharova et al., 1991).
