Type locality. Northern China (without exact locality).
Type specimens. The Vitzthum collection is kept in Zoologische Sammlung des Bayerischen Staates München ( Germany).
Type host. Roborowski’s hamster, Phodopus roborowskii (Satunin, 1903) = Phodopus bedfordiae (Thomas, 1908) , and Dipus sowerbyi Thomas, 1908 .
Principal hosts. In Asiatic Russia—two species of hamsters: Cricetulus barabensis (Pallas, 1773) , and Phodopus sungorus (Pallas, 1773) (Goncharova & Buyakova, 1962). Also, it is more or less common in nests of the narrow-headed vole, Microtus gregalis (Pallas, 1779) in Transbaikalia ( Goncharova et al., 1991) .
Distribution. Northern and Central Asia, including Siberia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and the northern Far East ( Goncharova et al., 1991). It is widely distributed in Asiatic Russia excluding the northernmost latitudes. Recorded in Central Yakutia and Kamchatka ( Nikulina, 2004).
